New Avatar Series: The Legend of Korra

Nickelodeon has just announced a new spinoff of the Avatar franchise. Nickelodeon 's president, Brown Johnson said that the mini series currently titled The Legend of Korra will have new cast of characters and will be set roughly 70 years after the Avatar: the Last Airbender series. It is currently under development, and is expected to have12 episodes and will start airing sometime in 2012. The creators of the original series, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are still involved.

The Legend of Korra will have a teenager Avatar from the Southern Water Tribe, a girl named Korra. Having already mastered three of the four elements (Earth, Water, and Fire), she sets off to find someone who would teach her air bending. She eventually came to the metropolis of Republic City of the new Avatar world. Korra then begins her training with the help of Aang and Katara's son, Tenzin.

They are drawing inspiration from Shanghai in the 1920s and 30s and Hong Kong and even Western cities like Manhattan and Vancouver.
