A bomb caused an explosion of a passenger bus along Buendia and EDSA on Tuesday. The blast killed at 3 people and injured 14 others. The explosion occurred around 2 p.m. while the Newman Gold Liner with plate number TXJ 710 bus was just about to approach the loading bay near the MRT Buendia station on Edsa's northbound lane.
The blast destroyed the vehicle's front and side windshields. The explosive could have been placed in the middle of the bus based on the vehicle's damage. said Metro Manila police chief Director Nicanor Bartolome. Victims were taken to the Ospital ng Makati and St. Luke’s Medical Center at the Bonifacio Global City.
“Isang malaking bomba yung sumabog pero inaalam pa kung anong klase [It was a big bomb that exploded but we’re still determining what kind],” said Senior Superintendent Froilan Bonifacio, chief of police of Makati.
Ayala to Buendia has been closed off from traffic as investigators and bomb squads check the area. Motorists are directed to take McKinley or Buendia or C5 or the South Luzon Expressway. Heavy traffic is to be expected.
