What's Miley Cyrus biggest mistake ?
what was Miley Cyrus' biggest mistake?
Allowing herself to be a victim to science.
She grew up.
And no one likes it.
So this mother of a 5-year-old is stepping forward to hand Miley a tissue. And an apology.
On behalf of every mother out there who shudders at your name, I say turn 18 in peace this year. And keep making movies like The Last Song. They let you be yourself.
A teenager trying to figure out who she is. A girl past puberty who has, gasp, started to identify herself as a sexual being.

Miley is devastated. She really thought Liam was ‘The One’. Although she did put her career ahead of they’re relationship, she made it clear to Liam he wouldn’t always come second. She’s hoping they’ll be able to sort things out.

Paris Hilton arrested for Cocaine possession
I don't know. The poor girl. She keeps getting arrested. In South Africa for marijuana. In France for marijuana.
She was in a car police say was "trailing marijuana smoke". How did they know it wasn't cigarette smoke? Apparently this entitled them to stop and search the car. They found marijuana, charged the driver with driving under the influence, found cocaine and I guess arrested Paris Hilton.
Well, why shouldn't she have cocaine? Does it really matter?
Like that movie, Little Miss Sunshine. The grandpa decided that at his advanced age it didn't hurt anything for him to become a heroin addict.
What does it hurt for Paris Hilton to be a hopeless drug addict?
Maybe this will do the trick for her
This could be a boon to Paris's "career".
Michael Jackson once advised Donny Osmond to get himself arrested on drug charges to revive his career. Maybe that's what Jackson had in mind when he kept getting himself arrested on those horrible sex charges.
If that was her plan, Hilton screwed up her first arrest. Cried on her way out of court. Then she was released because the jailers thought she'd have a nervous breakdown.
Look at Robert Mitchum, arrested for marijuana back in the '50s, photographed in jail cheerfully mopping the floor. Well, as cheerfully as he did anything. The public had no problem at all.
Well, there have been other things over the years that celebrities have done that should have boosted their careers but didn't.
Victor Sen Yung who played Hop Sing, the cook on Bonanza, was shot and wounded during an attempted airline hi-jacking. A passenger and the two hi-jackers were killed when the FBI stormed the plane. Sen Yung was struck by a bullet that otherwise would have killed a child in the next seat. Michael Landon never did anything like that.
Come to think of it, Alfalfa Switzer was shot when he was in his 20s and struggling in Hollywood. He survived that one, but was later shot and killed by a guy who owed him twenty dollars. Alfalfa had a terrible temper. He pulled a knife on the guy who owed him the money, and the debtor shot and killed him in self-defense.
Sonny Tufts kept getting arrested on drunk charges. So did Scotty from The Little Rascals, who went on to become a drunken wife-beater. The poor guy died in his 30s. He went into a nursing home where he died after a brutal bar fight.
There was Devon Sawa. What did I read about him? He was a pretty big teen idol after doing a nude scene when he was 13. He's been arrested four times, once for drunk driving, once for stealing a car, once for trying to evade arrest for probation violations for the first two arrests, and once for drug possession and beating up his fiance.
Many years ago Sawa dated a girl who had been on the sit-com Boy Meets World. They broke up. Years later, the girl appeared on a radio talk show. She didn't name Sawa, but she said she used to have a famous boyfriend who would "beat the crap out of me."
What makes someone act like that?
Getting arrested probably isn't the career booster Michael Jackson imagined.

Ford to Close Mercury Division by End of 2010
Most American automakers recovered but was not able to save Ford Motor Co.'s Mercury brand. Ford announced that it will shut down the struggling Mercury division by end of the year, which accounts for about 5% of Ford sales.
Mercury's demise follows some other famous American nameplates that was sold, discontinued or closed. Like General Motors Co.'s Pontiac, Saturn and Hummer.
"We have made tremendous progress on profitably growing the Ford brand during the past few years. Now it is time to do the same for Lincoln," said Mark Fields, Ford's president of the Americas.
Some say closing Mercury will help Lincoln, which trails to its German and Japanese counterparts. "Lincoln needs to be more youthful, and it needs to be a luxury brand with sex appeal, and it doesn't have those characteristics right now," said Rebecca Lindland, an auto industry analyst at IHS Global Insight.

Independent documentary filmmaker tries to murder cabbie
A film school grad named Michael Enright was making a documentary following U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
Enright returned to New York City. He might have gotten drunk. Got in a cab. The cab driver was Bangladeshi. Enright asked if he was Muslim. Asked if he was observing Ramadan. Then attacked him with a knife, tried to cut his throat, and told him that this was a "checkpoint".
The cab driver locked Enright in the cab and got the police who arrested him for attempted murder.
Police said Enright was drunk, but the victim didn't think he was. Doctors said that if the cut to the cabbie's throat had been just a little deeper, he would have died.
Police also said that Enright carried a journal full of anti-Muslim rants.
Well. Enright's lucky the cabbie survived. He's only going to prison for attempted murder, rather than murder. I'm not sure what the difference is New York.
Says his documentary was non-political
Like the way Glenn Beck's political rally isn't political. I think all that means is that the motives of the U.S. in Afghanistan are never questioned or discussed, or the reason why anyone might feel compelled to fight back when their country is invaded. The U.S. troops are just innocent victims minding their own business.
If you watch The Sorrow and the Pity, the documentary about the Nazi occupation of France, you can see an indignant Nazi talk about how rotten the French resistance was. They attacked some Nazi soldiers who were innocently practicing their marching, not doing anything to anyone.

Miley Cyrus break with Liam Hemsworth
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have seemingly sung their "Last Song," and new details about the couple's split are surfacing. According to sources, 20-year-old Hemsworth may have been stepping out on Cyrus, who has been focusing on her career.
E! News reports that earlier this month, Hemsworth was seen flirting with admirers at a party in Newport Beach and hooking up with another young woman while partying in Huntington Beach during the US Open Surf Competition. Cyrus, 17, has been in Detroit filming the flick "LOL."
"Ever since she left for Detroit, Miley has been super focused on her work," a source described as an "insider close to the former couple" told E! News. "Liam wanted more, but she's 17 and has other priorities right now. He's been a distraction. [Miley's] not with anybody else."
Despite that assertion, rumors are now circulating that Cyrus may be spending quality time with co-star Adam Sevani. A photo of the pair allegedly hanging out on the set of "LOL" has circulated, although it is unclear if it is actually Sevani in the picture.
Hemsworth, who was seen hanging out alone at a Dave Matthews Band concert earlier this week, has reportedly visited the set of "LOL" twice. "Both visits were only about 24 hours in length — by Miley's choice," the insider told E! News. "She is not ready to settle down, and Liam's not a happy camper."
Breakup rumors have plagued the duo in the past, and they have been denied by Cyrus. And E! News' source said that the couple may not be completely over just yet: "They're both young. To say they are done forever would be premature, but it's safe to say for now they are doing their own thing."
However, Hemsworth's rep . Cyrus' refused to comment.

Philippine Hostage Crisis : What Went Wrong?
Image from in.reuters.com |
Mistake 1: Hostage Taker Mendoza asks for a media representative to interview him and share his demands but was denied.
Mistake 2: One of the Hostage Negotiator was the vice mayor of Manila. A former Philippine actor with no experience whatsoever in these situations.
Mistake 3: The Philippine Police did not made an effort to contain the area and give certain safe-zones for media and civilians.
Mistake 4: The Philippine Police did not use
the the freed hostages efficiently to update or come up with a strategy.
Mistake 5: The Philippine Police arrested the brother of the hostage taker. In front of live television. Which the gunman saw on the on-board TV in the bus. Provoking him to fire his M-16.
Mistake 6: Philippine Police shot the Bus's tires, aggravating the hostage taker even further.
Mistake 7: They assaulted the bus basing and without confirming what a confused and scared driver saying all the hostages are dead.
Mistake 8: There was no media black out when the decided to assault the bus. Which removes the element of surprise.
Mistake 9: The Philippine Police did not send the SWAT to assault the bus, which was its purpose. But I doubt there would be any difference.
Mistake 9: The Philippine Police did not send the SWAT to assault the bus, which was its purpose. But I doubt there would be any difference.
Mistake 10: The Philippine Police foolishly smashed windows, doors and windshields with a hammer, causing the hostage taker to fire shots and making him confused even more.
Mistake 11: By the looks of the movement of the Philippine Police during assault, there was no Plan B, C or D. Just plan A. So when Plan A failed, all of them didn't know what to do and just did what's the first thing came to their empty heads.
Mistake 12: The Philippine Police did not plan for the worst. Which I think is a must with this kinds of situations. The Philippine Police should have asks lot of "WHAT IFs". What if negotiations fails? What if a hostage is shot? What if the hostage taker decide to move the bus? What if he shoots warning shots? What if there's a TV in the bus? If the Philippine Police asked these questions, maybe, just maybe the worst could have been avoided.

The Office, Woody Allen
There was Woody Allen's old movie, Crimes and Misdemeanors. Another one of his more or less serious movies, although he acts in this one.
There were a couple of storylines in it. In one, Woody Allen plays an independent filmmaker who makes uncommercial high brow documentaries. He makes little money. He's struggling. He's excited because he wins a little award at a little film festival.
Allen is hired to make documentary about his brother-in-law (Alan Alda), a wealthy successful TV producer.
So, here's the thing. You have Woody Allen, a successful, wealthy, highly regarded maker of supposedly high brow intellectual movies, who gets a blank check from the studios to make one or two movies a year, and he's playing a failure.
There's just something wrong and kind of annoying there.
And then there's the sit-com The Office.
There's something I find troubling about watching a successful comic, whether it's the American one or the British version, playing someone who desperately wants to be a comic, someone who actually considers himself a comic genius, but is just terrible. It's rather cruel. Is this really what successful actors and comedians think of those who desperately wish they could do the same?
I guess it has to be that way. If you're going to have a TV show, the star, by definition, is going to have to be a TV star.
There was Robert DeNiro in The King of Comedy, but that was different since DeNiro isn't a comedian by trade.
They had sort of a reunion show of the British version.
I watched it on Netflix. It was pretty good. Poor David Brent. He was a little like Screech--like Dustin Diamond--trying not to let his small amount of fame go to waste. The show was supposed to be a reality TV show set in an office. So the poor guy was making personal appearances between working as a traveling salesman.
Back at the office, Tim is coping with his humiliation at having asked that English girl out for a date and begging her not to marry her fiance and to marry him instead. He seems to lead a sad lonely life.
It was always kind of depressing.

Miss Universe Pageant 2010 Finalists and Winner
Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete was crowned Miss Universe 2010, replacing Miss Universe 2009 Stefania Fernandez. Miss Jamaica (Yendi Phillipps) was named first runner-up. Miss Australia (Jesinta Campbell) was second runner-up and Miss Ukraine (Anna Poslavska) was third runner-up.
This year's pageant was in the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas hosted by Natalie Morales and Bret Michaels. The top five tried their best to impress the panel of celebrity judges in the question and answer portion.
Raj, 22 was asked by judge William Baldwin,
"What is one big mistake that you've made in your life and what did you do to make it right?"
"Thank you so much, Sir for that wonderful question," she says and then greets the audience, met by wild cheering.
"You know what, Sir in my 22 years of existence I can say that there is nothing major major, I mean, problem that I have done in my life. Because I am very confident with my family, with the love that they are giving to me. So, thank you so much that I am here, thank you thank you so much," she answered.

Philippine Hostage Crisis Ends Badly
Philippine security forces ended a 11 hour hostage crisis yesterday with 8 Hong Kong nationals and the gunman dead. This dramatic hostage crisis unfolded live on global television. The day-long ordeal on Monday began when a ex-policeman, former senior police inspector Rolando Mendoza, armed with an M-16 assault rifle hijacked the bus in Manila's tourist district in a desperate bid to get his job back.
Negotiations broke down after nightfall when the gunman, former senior police inspector Rolando Mendoza, began shooting, supposedly because he saw his brother being arrested by the Philippine National Police. Special Forces were forced to storm the bus to stop the gunman.
"I shot two Chinese. I will finish them all if they do not stop," Mendoza told a
local radio station as the police assault was about to get under way.
Mendoza, 55, was honoured by police chiefs in 1986 as one of the top 10 officers in the country. But he was discharged in 2008 for his alleged involvement in drug-related crimes and extortion and hijacked the bus in a bid to clear his name, according to police.
The Hong Kong government warned all its citizens to avoid travelling to the Philippines, and expressed grief over the killings. Flags on Hong Kong government buildings will fly at half mast on Tuesday as a mark of respect for the victims.
The Chinese foreign minister, Yang Jiechi, telephoned his Philippine counterpart Alberto Romulo to express Beijing's shock and demand a thorough investigation, China's official Xinhua news agency said.

"I shot two Chinese. I will finish them all if they do not stop," Mendoza told a
local radio station as the police assault was about to get under way.
While watching the live broadcast of all local TV networks, I can see that Philippine SWAT, Special Forces, PNP are not organized and not fully equipped. They even had a practice with a identical bus a few hours before storming the bus.
Yet, after waiting more than 10 hours to launch their assault, police were then unable to get inside the bus for another 90 minutes. Finally someone thought of throwing a tear gas. That resulted to Mendoza going to the front of the bus giving opportunity for a sniper to shoot him and end this long hostage crisis.
One of the survivors hit out at the Philippine authorities, saying they acted too slowly.
A former commander of France's elite hostage rescue unit criticised the police assault as "badly prepared and risky".
The officers who stormed the bus did not have specialist training and "visibly lacked adequate equipment and tactical competence," said Frederic Gallois, the former head of France's National Gendarmerie Intervention Group.

This incident is a disgrace to our country. The whole world watched as our "finest" police handled the situation. They provoked the gunman by arresting his brother, they provoked him again with so many attempts to storm the bus. They were not organized and had no strategy whatsoever on how to get inside the bus even with prior training with an identical bus. This is what we Filipinos always say and I think is applicable to what happened. "BAHALA NA" strategy. I know our dear President Noynoy Aquino would defend our Police's actions, but the whole world saw it. There is no excuse. Apology is must.

Oh, crap! Am I like that?
Many years ago, Christopher Hitchens was inexplicably invited to debate Charelton Heston on Nightline about "Operation Desert Storm", the first U.S. war with Iraq launched by George Bush, Sr.
Hitchens decided his course of attack. He wouldn't argue about what Heston thought; he would focus on what Heston knew.
He asked Heston to name the countries bordering Iraq. Heston named several countries including the Soviet Union, causing Hitchens to exclaim, "You think it's Iran, don't you!"
Anyone can work up an opinion but no one should care what it is unless you actually know something about it.
So anyway, I came across a guy's website. I had googled Wanda Coleman, a writer I met a couple of times. I came across the website which was a collection of "essays" by some guy. They were attacks on poets he didn't like. The essays weren't scholarly, but he thought they were. He attacked political opinions he didn't share as "political correctness", made mostly personal attacks on poets and their admirers. He offered no insight into their work or what he thought was wrong with it.
The internet is full of people like that.
Mr Cranky
Someone calling himself "Mr Cranky" ran a website where posted nothing but negative reviews. Some of them pretty funny. Everything he reviewed got a bad review.
But here's the thing---
A director told about an encounter he had with Pauline Kael. He had let Kael hang around while he made a movie, let her see how it was done. And she wrote an article attacking him.
He asked Kael what she was doing. She said she was trying to guide his career, telling him what she thought he should be doing.
He told Kael that she was trying to have the pleasure creativity without taking any of the risks.
Mr Cranky took this one step further. He was trying to have the joy of being a movie critic without the risk of making a bad judgment. All his reviews were bad--that was his whole routine--so he never had to state what he liked and what he disliked.
Real critics all write reviews that prove to be embarrassingly wrong. Roger Ebert attacked the soundtrack to The Graduate as "instantly forgettable" and for years he's had to defend his positive review of Cop and a Half.
TRUE critics
Maybe that's the test. You're not a true critic unless you can be embarrassed by your gross misjudgment.
That would exclude someone like Michael Medved. Some rich right-winger put up the money for him to host Sneak Previews, the movie review show on PBS. A show of the same name was originally hosted by Siskel & Ebert before they moved on to commercial television.
Medved's reviewed everything according to how closely they conformed to his right-wing ideology. Thus, Chuck Norris's Invasion, U.S.A., terrible even by Chuck Norris standards, got a rave review while he took part in demonstrations that were sometimes openly anti-Semitic against The Last Temptation of Christ.
Medved wanted more G-rated family films, but attacked Benji The Hunted because Benji stays in the woods to save some orphaned baby animals rather than running home to his master. Benji was disobedient!

Miley Cyrus got serious -The last song
Bubble gum pop star Miley Cyrus of "Hanna Montana" fame tries to graduate to feature film headliner in this 2010 coming-of-age story.
It's a little too similar to last year's career move by another Disney-spawned teen singer-actress, Hilary Duff. Her film "According to Greta" was better received in a limited run, but "The Last Song" did far better at U.S. box offices, earning almost $63 million.
Both feel-good films are about a rebellious teen sent to live with relatives for the summer, during which tears are shed, romance is found, and familial relationships are healed.
"Last Song" is based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, whose weepy books "The Notebook" and "Dear John" have been translated into successful films.

Miley Cyrus to auction clothes
American singer/actress Miley Cyrus is set to auction her wardrobe on eBay. The 17-year-old artist will give her clothing and accessories and its proceeds will go to charity Get Ur Good On.
The charity aims to help connect young people with volunteering opportunities in their local communities, and Miley believes it is a good way to show charity begins at home.
“You don’t have to travel 30 hours... you don’t have to give a billion dollars. It’s not about how much or how far, it’s about looking at your neighbours and seeing how you can help. It isn’t just stuff that’s all over the world, it’s right here, it’s right next to you. It’s important to get involved,” the Hannah Montana star said.

Those Charmin commercials
Am I the only one who finds toilet paper commercials increasingly offensive?
I remember many years ago. I was at the library. I was a teenager. So when I saw book called Rated X, I was rather curious about its content.
Turned out the book was by some extreme conservatives complaining about all the filth on TV---and this was in early '70s.
I quickly lost interest in the book. They were outraged by Pepto Bismol commercials. They were also disgusted by The Hollywood Squares. And, actually, I watched that show a few times when I was five or six. There was one where they asked Paul Lynde about a famous quote, about something being "a wonderful thing. What a crime to waste it on children." What did the quote refer to?
"A spanking," Paul Lynde quipped. (He went on to give the correct answer---Youth itself!)
They asked George Gobel, is it true that women in France pay twenty dollars an hour to have their breasts massaged?
"I'd do it for ten," George said.
Well, I guess there is nothing but filth on TV.
People make a big deal about them not being able to use the word "pregnant" on I Love Lucy. But there was an episode entitled "In a Rut" where Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel decide to have open marriages.
In another episode, Lucy suspects Ricky is having an affair. She finds a piece of paper with a name and address. She wants to get a look at the woman, so she and Ethel go to the woman's apartment. They knock on the door. An old woman answers.
"We're taking a survey," Lucy says.
"Your name's not Kinsey, is it?" the old woman says.

Zsa Zsa Gabor
It's been reported that Zsa Zsa Gabor has asked for last rites from a priest. She's in intensive care after complications from hip replacement surgery. She's 93-years-old.
She's appeared in something like 30 movies. A Touch of Evil was one, and The Queen of Outer Space and Moulin Rouge.. But they talk about her as being "famous for being famous", and she is the "ex-step-great-grandmother" of Paris Hilton.
There was the movie Earthquake. George Kennedy gets in trouble when a high speed chase ends with the cars crashing into Zsa Zsa Gabor's hedge.
Personally, I was on her side in that case where she defended herself after being attacked by that hulking L.A. pig.
Interesting facts
A couple of lawsuits.
Gabor and Elke Sommer got into a feud, supposedly after Sommer said that Gabor had inordinately large buttocks. Gabor's husband publicly stated that Sommer said that all German men were pigs, so Sommer sued and won $2 million. This put Zsa Zsa and her weirdo German husband into bankruptcy. That was in 1993.
Later, they sued Zsa Zsa's daughter, Francesca Hilton, for forging Zsa Zsa's name on a loan application and stealing millions, but the lawsuit was dropped.
Miss Hungary?
At different times, Zsa Zsa and her two sisters, Magda and Eva, have each claimed to have been Miss Hungary or to have been runners up in the Miss Hungary beauty pageant. You'd think it'd be easy to check, but no one seems to have bothered.
She and her two sisters had 18 divorces between them.
She and her husband keep adopting men!
That probably sounds more perverse than it is.
Zsa Zsa and her husband, "Prince" Frédéric von Anhalt, have adopted several grown men including:
Marcus Eberhard Edward Prinz von Anhalt, Herzog zu Sachsen und Westfalen, Graf von Askanien (formerly known as Marcus Eberhardt, born about 1969, brothel owner, was adopted in April 2006); Prinz Oliver Leopold von Sachsen-Anhalt, Graf von Westfalen und Askanien (formerly known as Oliver Bendig, born about 1967, owner of two strip clubs in Los Angeles); Prinz Michael Maximilian von Anhalt, Herzog zu Sachsen und Westfalen, Graf von Askanien (formerly known as Michael Killer, born about 1967, owns health clubs); and a surgeon who doesn't want to be mentioned.
They each paid lots of money to be adopted.
It seems that Zsa Zsa's huband's father, a police officer by trade, paid elderly Maria Auguste Antoinette Friederike Alexandra Hilda Luise Prinzessin von Anhalt, daughter-in-law of Kaiser Wilhelm II, to adopted his son who then took the name Fréderic Prinz von Anhalt. (His real name was Robert Lichtenberg.)
This turned out to be a pretty good investment. Better than paying for college. Zsa Zsa and her husband apparently made millions adopting grown men so that each could become a "prince" and use a royal title.
Zsa Zsa's marriage to Frédéric von Anhalt got her the title of "Princess Von Anhalt, Duchess of Saxony".
The legitimacy of any of these titles is doubtful. Of course, the legitimacy of hereditary monarchy itself has been in doubt for a while, too.
Well, I hope the last rites were premature and that she pulls through. If not, she's probably lived enough for several lifetimes, married over and over, each time to a wealthy husband, living in different countries. I don't know how many people would really want to live her life, but it had to be interesting.

Philippine Tollway Fees Increase Effective Next Week
Imposition of the value-added tax (VAT) on tolls will push through next week as scheduled, with users of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) to be hit particularly hard based on adjusted fees approved by regulators.
The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) on Saturday detailed new charges for six Luzon tollways. The higher tolls -- which take into account the 12% VAT -- take effect beginning 10 p.m. on August 16, the date that SLEx adjustments approved earlier this year are also set to be imposed.
For users of the highway -- the main route to industrial zones south of Metro Manila -- the two adjustments mean tolls will nearly quadruple.
Here are the list of toll increases:

Here are the list of toll increases:
The biggest increases will be at the SLEx. In particular, entering Alabang and exiting at Calamba
- Class 1 vehicles -- cars or jeepneys -- will have to pay P85, almost four times more than the current P22.
- Class 2 vehicles -- light trucks and buses -- will rise to P170 from P43
- Class 3 vehicles -- trailers/large trucks will be P255 instead of P65.
"For SLEx, it is inclusive of the 250% increase approved by TRB sometime in May and the 12% VAT," the agency’s spokesman, Julius G. Corpuz, told BusinessWorld Sunday.
Motorists taking the elevated Skyway -- which connects to the SLEx -- exiting at Filinvest will have to shell out:
- cars and jeepneys P112 instead of P100.
- light trucks/buses will go up to P224 from P200
- heavy trucks/trailers will be P336 instead of P300.
Skyway rates were last adjusted in July 2009.
At the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) where the last toll hike was in July 2008, entering through Balintawak and exiting at Dau
- cars or jeepneys will have to pay P195 from P174 previously.
- The bus/truck rate will be P487, up from P435
- Large trucks and trailers will be P585 instead of P522.
As for cars and jeepneys using the R-1 (Radial Road 1) Expressway segment of the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway, the fee has been adjusted to P25 from P22. The last toll hike for this road took effect January 2009.
Drivers of Class 1 vehicles entering the Sto. Tomas end of the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) -- where a toll hike was implemented just last month -- will have to start paying P67 when exiting at Balagtas, Batangas, up from the current P60, while those on Class 2 vehicles will pay P134, up from P120. The Class 3 rate will be P200 instead of P179.
At the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx) -- last rate hike, April 2008 -- the new rates for the Tipo to Tarlac stretch are: Class I, P203 from P181; Class 2, P407 from P363; and Class 3, P609 instead of P544.

SLEX to enforce 250% Toll Hike in August
The increase in toll rates at the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) of up to 250 percent is inevitable and will be collected from motorists on Aug. 16, an official said yesterday.
Julius Corpuz, spokesperson of the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), said the South Luzon Tollways Corp. (SLTC), operator of the SLEX, has already declared its intention to impose the higher fees by that date.
“The new toll (rates) for the SLEX, from Alabang to the Calamba section, is set to be implemented by the SLTC on Aug. 16 after they deferred it a second time early this month,” Corpuz told The STAR.

The toll hike will result in owners of Class 1 vehicles having to pay P77 from the current rate of P22 for the use of the 29-kilometer Alabang-Calamba expressway.
Class 2 and 3 vehicles will pay P155 and P232, respectively, when the toll hike is implemented.
The TRB had granted SLTC the authority to operate the SLEX through a toll operation certificate dated Nov. 27, 2009.

Willie Revillame versus ABS-CBN
Yesterday, Willie Revillame announced in a movie press at Annabel’s Restaurant (Quezon City) with his lawyers Leonardo de Vera and Ferdinand Domingo: “I’m rescinding my contract with ABS-CBN,” Willie’s contract is good until Sept. 2011. This is his first time to come out in the open since he was said to be suspended Wowowee last May. Willie Revillame is ready to face ABS-CBN in court following his announcement to rescind his contract with the network. He even joked that he might start a new TV show titled "Willing Willie" or "Wil na Wil."
"Basta gusto ko bago mag-Pasko kung saan man ay may programa na ako. Kung saan man, gusto ko talaga na ganoon. Kung ano ang mangyari sa akin ay gagawan ko ng paraan ‘yon," Revillame said.
He added:"Hangga’t hindi ako nai-injunction pwede naman daw akong lumabas sabi ng mga abogado ko."
He added:"Hangga’t hindi ako nai-injunction pwede naman daw akong lumabas sabi ng mga abogado ko."
In a letter to Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez, ABS-CBN Chairman of the Board, signed by Willie and his lawyers, Willie said that his decision is justified by ABS-CBN’s breach of its obligations to him under his contract with the company “and its consequences which, according to their nature, should be in keeping with good faith, usage and law; and the unjust imposition of unauthorized penalties,” as follows:
1. Suspension without pay.
2. Unilateral cancellation of the Wowowee Program due to reason not attributable to me. The Wowowee Program became successful because of me, as the host/creative force. The ratings, in fact, fell because I was taken out as Host.
3. Unilateral downgrading of m y program from three (3) hours daily (Monday to Saturday) or eighteen (18) hours weekly to one (1) hour weekly or seventeen (17) hours less.
4. Being placed on probation to a weekly programs without assurance to reinstatement to daily programming.
5. Unilateral downgrading of my appearance from a “live” to a “pre-recorded” program, which constitutes prior restraint and censorship.
6. Due to 2 and 3 above, I was, and will be, deprived of my earning from “in-show” product endorsements which have become part of my compensation as a talent of the Company.
7. Deliberate sabotage of my image by the Company by airing, or allowing to be aired, destructive pieces against me, instead of promoting me as a talent of the company.
8. Abuse of right by the Company under a one-sided contract of adhesion, purposely intended to destroy my career and humiliate me, which is not in keeping with good faith, usage and law.
9. Refusing to salvage the Wowowee Program by reinstating me as Host when the rating started to decline with different trial hosts who did not generate the same viewership of 22-23 percent under my watch.
10. To continue to work under the proposed probation, censorship and prior restraint constitutes involuntary servitude.

Willie is bound to ABS-CBN by a contract until September 2011. He violated the behavioral provisions of his contract when he threatened the ABS-CBN management during the May 4, 2010 episode of Wowowee, with a resignation if management does not fire another artist of the network. His behavior was generally seen as a display of disrespect and arrogance, completely unacceptable to the Filipino public.
As the one who violated his contract, Willie has no right to have it unilaterally invalidated. Contracts are binding agreements that must be respected by the contracting parties involved. The one who violates the contract cannot be allowed to dictate whether it should continue or end. Otherwise, contracts will have no value and may be terminated based on whim.
ABS-CBN is the aggrieved party, and as such, is the only one that can decide to end the agreement.
Despite all that had happened, ABS-CBN was willing to continue with the contract. Willie, however, refused to take responsibility for his actions.
ABS-CBN wishes to reiterate that it will hold Willie to his obligations under the contract which expires September 2011.

Wowowee is Better than Pilipinas Win na Win!
The new noontime television program “Pilipinas Win Na Win” made its grand debut show on Saturday. “Pilipinas Win na Win” is hosted by Kris Aquino and action star Robin Padilla. Former “Wowowee” female hosts Pokwang, Valerie Concepcion and Mariel Rodriguez are also hosts on the new show.
During the show's first airing, the hosts revealed the many games and prizes in store for contestants. But even with all of this I can still feel something is missing. Maybe because the feel of “Pilipinas Win Na Win” still feels like “Wowowee.” As expected, management took advantage of the said relationship of
Robin and Mariel.
Personally, I hate the new show. I hate the show's name. I find it boring and the songs aren't even that catchy. The new hosts are not good and they don't even feel the song they're singing. And worst is they put Kris Aquino. I think her time as a game show host is over. She's so boring on the show. Even Robin is boring. They should have put "Showtime" as the noontime show instead. Or at least change the hosts! Then again, abs-cbn management knows best. I really wish everything goes well with the show.:)
How I wish Willie Revillame's Wowowee would return he would win in his fight with ABS-CBN.

Miley Cyrus Join The TV Show The Jersey Shore ?
Miley Cyrus was in Brooklyn shopping for a special brand of knee high boots sold only at Brooklyn's Dees Boots Is Made Fa Walkin' Boot Shop.
She was asked if the rumors about her being asked to join The Jersey Shore were true.
Miley smiled, took a lick from her Pralines and Cream three scoop ice cream cone and replied, "Yeah, they're true alright."
She said that she is seriously considering the offer which will pay her ten times what Snooki and The Situation are making combined.
Cyrus said that one of the show's producers, Gino Tallatutti, is a very close friend of her father, the former country singer Billy Ray Cyrus.
She said that Tallatutti, her dad, and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie used to get together at her dad's house and jam. They were all fans of the music of Tony Bennett, The Yardbirds, and Marcel Marceau.
Miley noted that Governor Christie has made it very clear that he no longer wants the spoiled-beyond-belief Jersey Shore cast in New Jersey and wants them to move to New York.
So the shows producer Tallatutti is hoping that by having (Miley) join the cast, it will cause the governor to back off a little bit since he is such good friends with both Billy Ray Cyrus and himself.
Tallatutti says that his main worry right now is that noted Brooklyn mafioso Sal "The Pizza Man" Goombalini may be fixing to get involved. And Tally, as his grandmother Iona Jo calls him, said that if that happens then the Jersey Shore could end up being filmed in Waterloo, Iowa.
